I am Gwendolen and I created Hummingbird Tarot to attract more tarot into my life.   Here is my story . . .

I started reading tarot cards almost 30 years ago.  I went to the tarot whenever I was upset or uneasy about something and I found the comfort and reassurance I was looking for.  I've had experiences with spirits and other entities as long as I can remember but tarot was always separate from this.  Then, in 2014, the spiritual side of things really kicked into high gear and it was getting to the point of being distracting and intrusive all day.  It was at this time that I read A Magical Course in Tarot by Michele Morgan. Something she said struck a definite chord in me. “My ability to ‘plug in’ to the world around me did, after all, have a rhythm and a purpose - and through the Tarot cards, the energy that had been trying all those years to speak to me finally found its true expression.  The looking glass shattered behind me, and there was no turning back . . . and from that moment on, the crowd was thankfully, blessedly silent.” With this inspiration I was able to tell the voices and shadows that were a constant distraction in my life that they were only allowed to speak to me through the cards.  Since that moment the distraction of spirits in my life has taken on a new level of peace and purpose.  Reading cards brings me a sense of delight that reminds me of the feelings of giddy anticipation I had as a child on the night before going to Disneyland.   I try to do readings every day, and when I don't, the spirits start to get unruly.  However, there are only so many readings you can do for yourself and close friends before you start running out of things to ask.  For this reason, I decided to offer my readings to a bigger crowd.

I believe in the law of attraction and in my readings I focus on the light to only attract the most positive energy and insight.  I don't believe we need help with the shadows.  These finds us often enough in our life and focusing on the light helps move some of that darkness on its way.  Why do I think tarot or any divinatory system works? Because we are not alone here and it’s not always easy to get our attention. Divinatory tools can be used as a communication device to get clarification on the messages we are receiving. There are spirits, angels, whatever you wish to call them, that love us and want to interact with us and guide us. Tarot cards are just one way that we can get some focus and clarity on those messages.  I also believe that anyone has the ability to read tarot cards for themselves.  Some people, like in sports, just find it comes to them more naturally.  Others have to study and work a little harder, but we all can play if we want to.

I named this business after my father.  My father found a lot of joy in family and good friends and with gratitude I claim this same gift. In his last years he was wheelchair bound and found pleasure in watching hummingbirds.  On the day of his funeral, hummingbirds began to interact with my family in ways they never had before.  They would hover facing us within arms reach and stop us in our tracks on walks.  During our first family reunion after his passing we saw a sight that none of us had ever seen before. . . flocks of them were flying past the windows.  As a nod to my father, I welcome you to Hummingbird Tarot.
